Off-highway vehicle exhausts are extremely hot, and can reach temperatures of over 200 Celsius. These temperatures can cause hot debris that can potentially start a wildfire when it drops from the vehicle into dry grass. You can prevent this by stopping regularly to clean off any debris that has built up. Check near the exhaust and muffler, under the seat, in wheel wells and around the engine. Carry a small extinguisher or a bucket and water to ensure that any hot debris can be extinguished.

Fire Permits

From March 1st  until October 31st, fire permits are required for any burning except campfires in the Forest Protection Area (FPA). If you live within the FPA, please contact your local forestry office. Anyone living outside the FPA can contact their municipality for information about local fire permit requirements.
