The wildfire danger rating for the Grande Prairie Forest Area is HIGH. Use caution when working or recreating in areas of dead grass as they are flammable and during windy conditions a fire will spread quickly. Report wildfires immediately by calling 310-FIRE.
GRANDE PRAIRIE FOREST AREA WILDFIRE UPDATE | October 7, 2020 at 9:00 A.M.
Since March 1, there have been 47 wildfires in the Grande Prairie Forest Area, burning a total of 45.94 hectares. There are currently three wildfires burning in the Grande Prairie Forest Area:
GWF-047 - This wildfire is currently listed as Being Held (BH) at 0.3 hectares in size.
GWF-046 - This wildfire is contained and has been turned over to the responsible party for extinguishment at 1.0 hectares in size.
GWF-044 - This wildfire is currently contained has been turned over to the responsible party for extinguishment at 21.9 hectares in size.
The wildfire Status map is updated throughout the day and provides an overall look at the current wildfire situation across Alberta.
Please visit AlbertaFireBans.ca before you go. While out hunting and recreating, please remember to use caution in the forest. During the fall, dry grass and branches can be ignited into a wildfire when campfires aren't properly extinguished. If you have a campfire remember to soak it with water, stir it and soak it again. The fire isn't out until it is cool to the touch.
