Warm, dry and windy weather conditions with no significant precipitation in the forecast have pushed the wildfire danger level to HIGH. Use caution as areas of dry grass will ignite easily and the fire will spread quickly. A Fire Advisory has been issued for the Fort McMurray Forest Area effective 1400 hrs. May 16, 2019.

FIRE ADVISORY IN EFFECT

New fire permits will not be issued during this time. The Fire Advisory will remain in effect until conditions improve.

What is allowed:

  • Safe campfires in campgrounds (within fire ring), backyards, or random camping areas
  • Charcoal briquettes
  • Portable propane fire pits
  • Gas or propane stoves and barbecues
  • Catalytic or infrared-style heaters

Never leave a campfire unattended. Soak it, stir it and soak it again until cool to the touch to ensure it is extinguished. If you see a wildfire, report it immediately by calling 310-FIRE.

Off-highway vehicles can start wildfires - check frequently to ensure hotspots are free of debris and make sure mufflers and spark arrestors are working properly.
