WILDFIRE SITUATION - August 6, 2018
MWF-093 is located 35 km west of Fort Mackay. This wildfire is 36 hectares in size and is now classified as being held. Smoke may be visible over the next few days and has the potential to drift into the community, however the wildfire remains a significant distance away and is no threat to the community. If you have smoke related health concerns, please call 811 or visit Alberta Health Services.
There are currently 24 wildfires in the Forest Protection Area of Alberta. 1 is out of control, 9 are being held, 10 are under control and 4 have been turned over to the responsible parties.
Since March 1, 2018, Alberta has recorded 1,082 wildfires in the Forest Protection Area that have burned a total of approximately 49,788 hectares.
Make sure it's out! A campfire left smoldering can cause a wildfire. Never leave your campfire unattended and make sure it's out. Soak it with water, stir up the ashes and soak it again. A campfire is out when the ashes are cool to the touch.
