Caution is recommended when hunting, riding Off-Highway Vehicles (OHVs) or otherwise recreating in the forest. Please supervise and extinguish all fires completely and call 310-FIRE to report wildfires.

Wildfire Situation Reports

Since March 1, 2017 there have been 92 fires in the Fort McMurray Forest Area. 67 were caused by lightning, 25 were human caused. All have been extinguished.

There are currently 17 wildfires in the Forest Protection Area of Alberta. 15 are under control and 2 have been turned over to the responsible parties. More information.

Forest and Prairie Protection Act | Legislative and Regulatory Changes

Alberta Agriculture and Forestry has made changes to the Forest Prairie and Protection Act and Regulations. The changes are in support of the government commitment to protect Albertans and their communities from the threat of wildfire. Full details on the changes can be found here.
