We ask that you keep watch of your surroundings while working or recreating outdoors. Ensure you fully extinguish your campfire by soaking it, stirring it and soaking it again until the ashes are cool to the touch. Never leave your campfire unattended.
During wildfire season, you are required to have a fire permit if you plan on burning in the Forest Protection Area, with the exception of a campfire. To request your free fire permit, contact the local forest area: (780) 723-8527.
If you see smoke or flame and suspect it's a wildfire, call 310-FIRE.
The Edson Forest Area uses various methods to detect wildfires, including satellite imagery, public reports to 310-FIRE and lookout towers. There are currently 11 towers operating in our forest area. (View from Simonette Lookout Tower).
