The area is expecting high temperatures, lower humidity and gusty winds again today. The grass remains very dry and any spark, hot exhaust or friction can catch easily and burn quickly. We urge everyone to use caution when working and recreating outdoors.

During wildfire season, you are required to have a fire permit if you plan on burning in the Forest Protection Area, with the exception of a campfire. To request your free fire permit, contact the local forest area: (780) 723-8527.

If you are having a campfire, ensure that you fully extinguish your fire. Soak the ashes, stir them and soak them again until they are cool to the touch. A campfire can burn into the ground, resurfacing later and starting a wildfire.

If you see smoke or flame and suspect it's a wildfire, call 310-FIRE.
