Edson Forest Area Wildfire Update - March 29, 2021

Written by Caroline Charbonneau | Mar 29, 2021 7:49:33 PM

Be advised that strong winds are expected to continue into Wednesday. Warm temperatures and wind will melt snow quickly and expose dried grass and woody debris. Strong winds can blow embers into dry grass and can cause these fuels to catch easily and burn quickly which could start a wildfire.

During wildfire season, you are required to obtain a fire permit if you plan on burning in the Forest Protection Area, with the exception of a campfire. To request your free fire permit, contact the local forest area: (780) 723-8527.

If you see smoke or flame and suspect it's a wildfire, call 310-FIRE.

Exposed dry grass and woody debris can catch easily and burn quickly.
