Edson Forest Area Wildfire Update - April 6, 2021

Written by Caroline Charbonneau | Apr 6, 2021 5:29:45 PM

During wildfire season, you are required to obtain a fire permit if you plan on burning in the Forest Protection Area, with the exception of a campfire. To request your free fire permit, contact the local forest area: (780) 723-8527.

Warm temperatures and wind will melt snow quickly and expose dried grass and woody debris. Wind can blow embers into dry grass and can cause these fuels to catch easily and burn quickly which could start a wildfire. If you are doing any burning, ensure you monitor the weather forecast and adhere to your burn permit conditions.

If you see smoke or flame and suspect it's a wildfire, call 310-FIRE.

EWF014 was detected on April 4th and is now extinguished.
