WILDFIRE IN PARKLAND COUNTY - WCU002
Residents from our forest area may see or smell smoke which is produced by wildfire WCU002. The fire is burning west of Tomahawk between range road 63 and range road 70, and between township roads 510 and 514.
Alberta Wildfire is currently assisting Parkland County with wildfire operations.
A mutual aid resource sharing agreement enables the province to share wildland fire resources. Alberta Wildfire has agreements with local municipalities, such as Parkland County to provide firefighting resources when requested.

EDSON FOREST AREA FIRE DANGER RATING
The wildfire danger in the Edson Forest Area is now LOW.
The fire advisory is no longer in effect for the Edson Forest Area.

EDSON FOREST AREA WILDFIRE UPDATE
Since March 1, 2021, there have been 37 wildfires in the Edson Forest Area burning a total of 555 ha.
WILDFIRE EWF038
Wildfire EWF038 is now classified as under control. The fire is located 5 km east of Niton Junction, north of highway 16 along Brule Creek and is 11 hectares in size.
15 Alberta wildfire firefighters, Yellowhead County firefighters, four helicopters and heavy equipment were assigned to the fire. Tomorrow, crews will search for hotspots and monitor the fire until it's classified as extinguished.
WILDFIRE EWF036
Wildfire EWF036 was detected on April 30 and is estimated to be 479 ha in size. The wildfire remains classified as under control. The fire is 20 km south of Carrot Creek, 25 km north west of Cynthia and 45 km south east of Edson.
The containment line surrounding the full perimeter of the wildfire is complete thanks to the hard work of heavy equipment, firefighting crews and aircraft. The wildfire received very little precipitation again today however, there was no new growth and very little fire activity was observed.
92 firefighters, two helicopters and six pieces of heavy equipment will continue to search and put out hotspots until the wildfire is fully extinguished.
Airtankers and dozers are available to support this wildfire should they be required. There is no threat to any communities at this time. The cause of the wildfire is under investigation.
WILDFIRE EWF028
EWF028 was detected on April 16 remains under control. The wildfire is approximately 22 km north of Edson, located approximately 3 km south of Emerson Creek Rd and 3 km west of the Amaco Road. This fire poses no threat to any community at this time. The estimated size of the fire is 35 ha. Crews will continue to search for any remaining hotspots and extinguish them. The fire will be monitored until it is classified as extinguished. The cause of the wildfire is still under investigation.
PROVINCIAL WILDFIRE UPDATE
Since March 1 in the Forest Protection Area, there have been 210 wildfires burning a total of 882 ha.
