The average wildfire danger across the Calgary Forest Area (CFA) is now LOW. The CFA has benefitted from widespread precipitation, particularly in the northern sections. While showers have begun to move through the southern portions of the CFA, it has been more scattered coverage. There may remain pockets where the wildfire danger is higher.

ACTIVE WILDFIRES IN THE CFA

CWF-080 was EXTINGUISHED at 0.2 hectares. It was detected on the morning of September 10 and located in the Castle Wildland Provincial Park. 14 wildland firefighters and two helicopters responded to this wildfire. The cause is under investigation.

CWF-057 (Fallentimber Fire) is now EXTINGUISHED at 48.8 hectares.

Since January 1, the CFA has responded to 80 wildfires which have burned 63.71 hectares.

HUNTING SEASON

Hunting season has begun in many of our foothill and mountain regions. If you are out hunting, please be sure to build your campfires in safe areas. Clear away any nearby dry vegetation and do not build your campfire in an area with overhanging branches. Keep your campfire fully attended at all times and be sure to FULLY extinguish it by soaking it, stirring it and soaking again.
