  • Wildfire PMD003 is a mutual aid wildfire located in the Municipal District of Peace no. 135. A mutual aid wildfire is a wildfire outside of the Forest Protection Area of Alberta in which Alberta Wildfire provides assistance to the lead agency.
  • This wildfire is classified as out of control at approximately 1500 hectares.
  • Alberta Wildfire is assisting with crews, helicopters and heavy equipment.

There is one wildfire of note in the Forest Protection Area of Alberta.

MWF012

  • Wildfire MWF012 is classified as being held at approximately 67 hectares.
  • MWF012 is located southeast of Fort McMurray on the south side of the Clearwater River. The western flank is located approximately 4.5 km east of Saprae Creek Estates.
  • Crews and heavy equipment groups continue to work to strengthen the fire guard along the western flank of this wildfire, with the assistance of helicopters and airtankers. 
  • Night visibility helicopter bucketing operations took place last night into the early morning to help slow the growth of this wildfire.

There is one wildfire of note in the Forest Protection Area of Alberta.

MWF012

  • Wildfire MWF012 is classified as out of control at approximately 67 hectares.
  • MWF012 is located southeast of Fort McMurray on the south side of the Clearwater River. The western flank is located approximately 4.5 km east of Saprae Creek Estates.
  • Crews and resources have been working to strengthen the fire guard along the western flank of this wildfire.
  • Night visibility helicopter bucketing operations took place last night into the early morning to help slow the growth of this wildfire.
  • Today, two airtanker groups will lay down more fire retardant along the western flank of the wildfire.
  • Night visibility helicopter bucketing will continue tonight if conditions permit.

There is one wildfire of note in the Forest Protection Area of Alberta.

Basset Fire (HWF-058)

  • Wildfire HWF-058 is now classified as being held at 234,046 hectares.

  • HWF-058 is approximately 20 km east of Chateh, 43 km west of the Town of High Level, 30 km southwest of Meander, 15 km from the northwest corner boundary of the Paddle Prairie Metis Settlement, and 38 kilometers west of Highway 35 south.

  • Firefighters will continue to fight this wildfire until it is fully extinguished.

  • Due to the change in status, this wildfire will no longer appear as a wildfire of note after today.

There is one wildfire of note in the Forest Protection Area of Alberta.

Basset Fire (HWF-058)

  • Wildfire HWF-058 is classified as out of control at 234,046 hectares.

  • HWF-058 is approximately 20 km east of Chateh, 43 km west of the Town of High Level, 30 km southwest of Meander, 15 km from the northwest corner boundary of the Paddle Prairie Metis Settlement, and 38 kilometers west of Highway 35 south.

  • Fire behaviour has been reduced due to lighter winds and cooler temperatures therefore minimal growth has been reported. The smoke and fog continue to challenge aircraft visibility. Heavy equipment, aircraft and wildland firefighters continue to work to suppress the wildfire.
