FIRE ADVISORY

The Whitecourt Wildfire Management Area (WWMA) has declared a Fire Advisory.

Safe campfires are permitted in campgrounds and backcountry or random camping areas. Issuance of fire permits for the area is restricted until the Fire Advisory is lifted.

For more information, check www.Albertafirebans.ca

PERMITS

Winds are expected to gust up to 80 kilometers per hour

this weekend, impacting burning conditions. Under the current Fire Advisory, all permit holders must extinguish their fires.

If you are not burning under permit conditions, you can be fined up to $5,000 and held liable for all firefighting suppression costs under the Forest and Prairie Protection Act.

Fire permits are suspended in many parts of the province and no new permits are being issued. Albertans are encouraged to check www.albertafirebans.ca.

FIRES

There are currently no wildfires in WWMA.

Currently, there are six fires burning in Alberta. Four are under control and two have been turned over to the responsible party.
