Wildfire Hazard

Cooler temperatures, rain and light winds keep the wildfire hazard at LOW in the Whitecourt Wildfire Management Area (WWMA). The forest remains dry under the top layer of leaf litter, if a wildfire does start it will burn deep down into the soil. This type of wildfire takes a lot of work to extinguish. Please do your part to prevent wildfires when out working or recreating in the forest.

Are you going hunting? When having a fire to cook lunch or to warm-up, make sure your fire is completely extinguished before you leave it.  It doesn't matter how small that fire was, if it is not out, it can grow. Soak it, stir it, soak it again; it should be cool to the touch. Learn more here.
