Wildfire Hazard

Recent warm and windy weather has caused the wildfire hazard to climb to HIGH for the Slave Lake Forest Area. Although we did receive a good amount of rain a few days of warm weather has dried up the fine fuels like grass, leaves and twigs. A wildfire will ignite easily and spread quickly under windy conditions. Use caution when working or recreating in the forest and report wildfires immediately by calling 310-FIRE (3473).

Weather Forecast

For Tuesday, the forecast is calling for warm temperatures, winds from the southwest 15 to 20 kilometres per hour and a chance of thundershowers in the afternoon/evening.

The forecast is calling for a chance of rain later this week.

Your off-highway vehicle can start a wildfire. Check your off-highway vehicle frequently for any smoldering debris. Grass, muskeg, moss or other debris can drop to the ground as you're riding and spark a wildfire. This video shows you how to ride debris free!
