Wildfire Hazard
For Wednesday, due to warm weather and lack of rain the hazard will remain HIGH for areas north of Lesser Slave Lake. Although we did receive a good amount of rain a few days of warm weather has dried up the fine fuels like grass, leaves and twigs. A wildfire will ignite easily and spread quickly under windy conditions. Use caution when working or recreating in the forest and report wildfires immediately by calling 310-FIRE (3473).
High Alert
Firefighters with helicopters and airtankers are stationed throughout the area ready to fight any new wildfires that may start. We also have our personnel in the fire towers on high alert constantly watching for smoke.
Weather Forecast
For tonight the forecast is calling for a chance of thundershowers and winds from the southwest 15 kilometres per hour. For Wednesday we can expect warm temperatures, winds from the southwest 15 kilometres per hour and a chance of thundershowers in the afternoon/evening. The forecast is calling for widespread rain on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
