Tanis Blocka will be the acting wildfire information officer for June 30 to July 2nd, you can contact her at 780-516-1347 if you have any questions regarding the Slave Lake Forest Area.

The northern portion of the Slave Lake Forest Area did not receive rain in the same amounts as the southern portion, so the hazard in that area is higher.  This is resulting in a change to the hazard to moderate.

Please do your part to prevent wildfires this weekend. Never leave your campfire unattended and make sure it's out. A campfire left smouldering can cause a wildfire. This video shows you how to make sure your campfire is out.

Weather Forecast

The unstable air mass will still be affecting our area over the next few days with continued widespread thunderstorms for Friday and Saturday.  Temperatures will remain in the low twenties with lower temperatures anticipated early next week.

The lightning and thunderstorms are expected to continue due to the unstable air mass.  We have firefighter and helicopters stationed throughout the Slave Lake Forest Area in case more lightning is received in our area.

This maps shows the lightning strikes that were recorded across Alberta in the last 24 hours.

Your off-highway vehicle can start a wildfire. Check your off-highway vehicle frequently for any smoldering debris. Grass, muskeg, moss or other debris can drop to the ground as you're riding and spark a wildfire. This video shows you how to ride debris free!
