Wildfire Hazard VERY HIGH. Thanks for abiding by the Fire Restriction.

Warm weather and winds have caused the wildfire hazard to climb. The wildfire hazard is VERY HIGH for the majority of communities in the Slave Lake Wildfire Management AreaFor Thursday, the forecast is calling for warm temperatures, chance of thundershowers and winds from the south 20 kilometers per hour.

Fire Restriction in effect

What’s prohibited?

Wood campfires in backcountry or random camping areas, charcoal briquettes, turkey fryers and tiki torches. Campfires are prohibited on private property (example -backyard fire pit) as well.

Thank you to all for cooperating with the fire restriction. Abiding by the fire restriction helps to keep our firefighters free to fight wildfires that are still burning and any new wildfires that may start.

Slave Lake Wildfire Management Area Update 4:00 pm

There have been no new wildfires in the past 24 hours in the Slave Lake Wildfire Management Area. Since April 1, there have been 91 wildfires and 1,180.47 hectares burned 

Provincial Update 10:00 am 

In the last 24 hours there have been 13 new wildfires. Alberta currently has 39 wildfires. Four are out of control, 12 are being held, 22 are under control and one has been turned over to the responsible party. Since April 1, Alberta has seen 779 wildfires that have burned a total of 49,490.12 hectares.
