Wildfire Hazard

Over the past 24 hours, the majority of the the Slave Lake Wildfire Management Area has received snow which has brought relief to the wildfire hazard.

 

Weather Forecast

For today and into Wednesday, the forecast is calling for cool temperatures, widespread rain turning into snow and NE winds 20 gusting up to 50 kilometers per hour.

There were no new wildfires over the past 24 hours. 

Since April 1, the Slave Lake Wildfire Management Area has recorded 37 wildfires which have burned 309.24 hectares. 36 wildfires have been extinguished and one has been turned over to the land owner that is responsible to extinguish the fire.

Fire Permits

All fire permit holders are reminded to check the weather and your permit conditions. If you cannot meet the conditions on your permit, do not ignite new burns and extinguish those already burning.

From March 1 to October 31, Albertans in the forested areas need to get a FIRE PERMIT for any burning, excluding campfires. To request your free fire permit call your local Environment and Sustainable Resource Development Office.
