Fire Restriction

 IMG_1238

Due to the hard work of firefighters and cooler wet weather we’ve seen over the last few days, the fire ban for much of the province has been removed. There is a fire restriction in place for the north and east parts of the province. Visit www.albertafirebans.ca for information.

What does the Fire Restriction mean?

Safe campfires are allowed in FIRE RINGS IN CAMPGROUNDS AND PROVINCIAL PARKS ONLY.

Slave Lake Wildfire Management Area Update

There have been no new wildfires in the past 24 hours in the Slave Lake Wildfire Management Area. Since April 1, there have been 91 wildfires and 1,180.47 hectares burned

Provincial Update 10:00 am

Alberta currently has 36 wildfires. Four are out of control, six are being held, 25 are under control and one has been turned over to the responsible party.Since April 1, Alberta has seen 766 wildfires that have burned a total of 49,412.03 hectares.

Thank you to all for cooperating with the fire restriction. Abiding by the fire restriction helps to keep our firefighters free to fight wildfires that are still burning and any new wildfires that may start.
