Slave Lake Area Update

Wet and cool weather brings relief to wildfire hazard.

The forecast is calling for wet and cool weather over the weekend. The wildfire hazard for the Slave Lake Wildfire Management Area will be MODERATE. 

Weather Forecast

For Saturday the forecast is calling for cool temperatures, rain, snow and brisk winds from the N - NW 20 gusting up to 40 kilometers per hour.

For Sunday the forecast is calling for cool temperatures, chance of rain and light winds.

 

Wildfire Report as of May 1 4:00 pm

There was one new wildfire last night. The fire is under control and burned 0.02 hectares.

Since April 1, the Slave Lake Wildfire Management Area has recorded 35 wildfires which have burned 307.26 hectares. 34 wildfires have been extinguished and one is under control.

Fire Permits

All fire permit holders are reminded to check the weather and your permit conditions.  If you cannot meet the conditions on your permit, do not ignite new burns and extinguish those already burning.

From March 1 to October 31, Albertans in the forested areas need to get a FIRE PERMIT for any burning, excluding campfires. To request your free fire permit call your local Environment and Sustainable Resource Development Office.
