Wildfire danger

The wildfire danger has climbed to EXTREME in the Slave Lake Forest Area. Areas of dead grass are flammable and a fire will spread quickly with the strong and gusty winds expected today.

Use caution in areas of dead grass and report wildfires immediately by calling 310-FIRE.

Fire permit holders must postpone burning today as the winds will exceed the safe buring conditions on the fire permit.

Weather

This afternoon, winds will be from the northwest 40 kilometres per hour gusting up to 60 for areas south of Lesser Slave Lake. For areas north of Lesser Slave Lake the winds will be from the west 35 kilometres per hour gusting up to 55.
