Wildfire danger

The wildfire danger has climbed to HIGH in the Slave Lake Forest Area. Areas of dead grass are flammable and a fire will spread quickly with the strong and gusty winds we are experiencing today.

Use caution in areas of dead grass and report wildfires immediately by calling 310-FIRE.

Fire permit holders must postpone burning as the winds today will exceed the safe buring conditions on the fire permit.

Weather

For today the temperature will reach a high of 11 degrees and the winds will be from the west 35 gusting up to 55 kilometres per hour.

Wildfire activity

Last night a thunderstorm with lightning moved through the southern portion of the Slave Lake Forest Area. Today firefighters and lookout towers are on high alert watching for new wildfire starts.
