McMillan Wildfire Complex
It was a busy day at the McMillan complex today and crews worked hard to build and strengthen line across SWF-049. Crews and heavy equipment continue to work in stubborn areas on the southeast side of the fire and are building line through harvested areas. Firefighters continue to support heavy equipment along the south side of the fire to reinforce their dozer lines. Crews are laying hose lines north of McLeod Lake to build control line on the east side of the fire. Firefighters have progressed well along the western side of the fire – laying hose north to Calder Lake and McConachie Lake. Also further north on the western side of the fire, crews are containing active areas of the fire south of Sawle Lake with bucketing helicopter support. In the northwest and northeast sectors of the fire, crews are cutting helipads to improve access to these portions of the fire. Airtankers supported the northeast flank of the fire today immediately west of SWF-079 to reduce fire behavior along the fire perimeter.
Crews are working hard to encircle SWF-079 with the aid of bucketing helicopters to knock down the fire behavior.
Great progress continues to be made on SWF-078, SWF-090 and SWF-099 as all of these fires are under control.
Structure protection remains in place in Trout Lake, Wabasca, Bigstone Cree First Nation and Marten Beach. Structure protection crews will be maintaining sprinkler systems at these sites.
