McMillan Wildfire Complex

The recent rain did not impact the fire much, the largest rainfall amount was 0.6 millimeters on the east side of the fire. A portion of the southeast side of the fire was active again but bucketing helicopters and heavy equipment were successful in containing the fire spread. Heavy equipment continues to build contingency dozer lines along the south side of the fire. The fireline in the vicinity of Wabasca remains in good shape and crews continue to maintain hose lines in this area. The west side of the fire required air tankers to reduce the fire behavior in areas, so crews could establish themselves on this part of the fire.

SWF-079 was active again today on its western side and tankers were dispatched to knock down the fire behavior. Plans are being made to put crews on this fire tomorrow.

SWF-090 is in great shape with minimal fire behavior as crews have brought the fire to a state of being held.

Structure protection is complete at Trout Lake, Wabasca and Marten Beach. FireSmart techniques being implemented to reduce risk on community infrastructure & homes in Bigstone Cree First Nation.

The wildfires are:

  • 4.9 and 3.3 kilometres west of Wabasca No. 166B and 166D

  • 26.5 kilometres northeast of Marten Beach
