Wildfire Hazard

Recent rain has brought relief to the wildfire hazard in the Slave Lake Wildire Management Area. The wildfire hazard is LOW.

The FIRE ADVISORY for the Slave Lake Wildfire Management Area has been lifted as of 9:00 am Monday June 22nd.

The fire permit suspension has been lifted and new fire permits are being issued. However permits will not be issued for brush piles.

With Canada Day around the corner, be sure to request your free fire permit if you plan on igniting fireworks in the Forest Protection Area.

To request your free fire permit call your local Alberta Agriculture and Forestry Office.

Fire permits help us track what is burning on the landscape. By getting a fire permit and following the fire permit conditions you help keep our firefighters free to fight new wildfires that may start.

 

Weather Forecast

For today the forecast is calling for warm temperatures, a chance of showers and light winds from the northwest at 10 kilometres per hour.

There is a chance of showers for Tuesday.

For the rest of the week expect sunshine and very warm temperatures.

 

Slave Lake Wildfire Management Area wildfire situation as of 10:00 am June 22th

Lightning caused two new wildfires yesterday afternoon. Thanks to the hard work of firefighters they were quickly contained and extinguished. Since April 1, in the Slave Lake Wildfire Management Area there have been 109 wildfires that have burned a total of 1,199.56 hectares.

 

Alberta Wildfire Update as of 10:00 am June 22th

In the last 24 hours there have been ten new wildfires. Alberta currently has 24 wildfires. Three are being held, 20 are under control and one has been turned over to the responsible party.Since April 1, 2015, Alberta has recorded 905 wildfires that have burned a total of 90,184.9 hectares.For more information on the wildfires burning in Alberta visit the wildfire status map at www.wildfire.alberta.ca or download the Alberta Wildfire App.
