Rain has brought relief to our wildfire hazard in the Slave Lake Wildfire Management Area (SLWMA). The recent precipitation and the upcoming weather forecast has brought our wildfire hazard down to LOW.

Areas of dead, dry grass are extremely flammable and under windy conditions a grass fire will spread very quickly. Residents and visitors are urged to be extra cautious with any burning at this time.

Wildfire Report as of April 23 4:00 pm

In the last 24 hours there have been 15 new wildfires across Alberta.

Since April 1, the Slave Lake Wildfire Management Area has recorded 18 wildfires which have burned 90 hectares. 17 of the wildfires have been extinguished and one has been turned over to the landowner who is resposible to extinguish the fire.
