High Hazard

Fire Advisory
The Slave Lake wildfire management area (SLWMA) has declared a Fire Advisory starting at 0800 on Friday, April 10.
We saw very little precipitation this weekend which has kept our wildfire hazard HIGH. Until we see some rain or the hazard decreases, fire permits will remain suspended.
Safe campfires are permitted in campgrounds and backcountry or random camping areas.

Fire Permits

Due to the HIGH wildfire hazard and wind advisory, fire permits are still suspended as we move into the early part of the week. No new fire permits are being issued. Albertans are encouraged to check the status of the fire advisory by visiting www.Albertafirebans.ca

Wind Advisory

The SLWMA is expecting high and gusting winds for the early part of the week. High winds can cause extreme fire behaviour and allow fires to grow rapidly. Residents and visitors to Slave Lake area are urged to be extra cautious with any burning at this time.
