Wildfire on Old Smith Highway

There is a wildfire burning out of control at approximately km 33 Old Smith Highway. The wildfire is 25 km east of the town of Slave and at this time it is not threatening the town of Slave Lake. It's estimated to be 500 hectares in size. Firefighters with helicopters, airtankers, fire department and heavy equipment are fighting this wildfire. RCMP have evacuated all residents in the immediate area.Evacuees can proceed to the Md of Lesser Slave River Office. For evacuation information contact the MD of Lesser Slave River 780-849-4888.

Wildfire west of Peerless Lake

There is a wildfire west of Peerless. It is burning out of control approximately 20 hectares. Firefighters with helicopters are on site. 

 

Update on wildfire burning on north end of North Wabasca Lake

The wildfire at the north end of North Wabasca Lake is classified as out of control and is 208 hectares. The dozer guard has been completed on the west side and south side of the fire. Firefighters, helicopters and airtankers continue to fight this wildfire.

Wildfire 22 kilometers SE of Slave Lake

The wildfire located 22 kilometers SE of Slave Lake remains being held meaning under current weather conditions it will not spread. Dozers have completed fire guard around the fire. Firefighters and helicopters are continuing to fight this fire. The wildfire was accurately measured and is 56 hectares. 

 

Wildfire at Trout Lake

The wildfire located in the community of Trout Lake remains being held and is 0.5 hectares. Firefighters are working on extinguishing it.

 

Wildfire Hazard

Warm and dry weather is expected to continue. The wildfire hazard remains EXTREME for the Slave Lake Wildfire Management Area

The conditions in the forest are very dry and under windy conditions a fire will spread very quickly. Use extreme caution and report wildfires immediately by calling 310-FIRE (3473).

Weather Forecast

For tomorrow the forecast is calling for warm temperatures, light winds from the North and risk of thundershowers. In the evening and overnight Monday there is the chance of very strong and gusty winds.
