Pending favorable weather conditions Environment and Sustainable Resource Development will be conducting prescribed fire operations this Wednesday May 13 in the South Idlewilde.
This prescribed fire will restore the ecological role of wildfire along Clearwater River and rejuvenate forging habitat for elk and other ungulates that winter in the area. It is located approximately 55 km south west of Rocky Mountain house and 60 kilometers west of Sundre.

Fire Permits
All fire permit holders are reminded to check the weather and your permit conditions. If you cannot meet the conditions on your permit, do not ignite new burns and extinguish those already burning.
From March 1 to October 31, Albertans in the forested areas need to get a FIRE PERMIT for any burning, excluding campfires. To request your free fire permit call your local Environment and Sustainable Resource Development Office.
