The Rocky Wildfire Management Area (RWMA) has declared a Fire Advisory effective 12:00 noon Friday April 10, 2015

Safe campfires are permitted in campgrounds and backcountry or random camping areas. For more information, check www.Albertafirebans.ca

Fire Permits
Due to the high fire hazard and wind advisory all fire permits have been suspended and no new fire permits are being issued. Albertans are encouraged to check the status of the fire advisory by visiting www.Albertafirebans.ca

Wind Advisory
The RWMA is expecting winds to increase today and through the weekend. The forecast for today is calling for gusty winds 25-30 km/h and Saturday winds increasing to 35-45 km/h gusting to 70-80 km/h.

High winds can cause extreme fire behaviour and allow wildfires to grow rapidly. Residents and visitors to the Rocky WMA are urged to be extra cautious with any burning at this time.

Prescribed Fire

On Monday April 13, RWMA will be conducting a prescribed fire in the Hummingbird area. 558 hectares are planned to be burned. Smoke may be visible from the Nordegg and Rocky Area. The adjacent area will be closed for public safety.
