Wildfire Update - August 18, 2020
The wildfire danger rating for the Rocky Mountain House Forest Area is VERY HIGH. There is currently one wildfire burning in the area. This wildfire is being held at 0.01 hectares.
Since March 1, there have been 41 wildfires in the Rocky Mountain House Forest Area, burning 14.87 hectares.
FIRE ADVISORY
Due to forecasted hot and dry weather conditions, a Fire Advisory is now effect for the Rocky Mountain House Forest Area:
- Safe campfires are allowed.
- Existing fire permits remain valid.
- Fire permits will be issued on a case-by-case basis.
- Permits for fireworks and exploding targets will not be issued.
Off-highway vehicles can start wildfires - check frequently to ensure hotspots are free of debris, and make sure mufflers and spark arrestors are working properly.
Never leave a campfire unattended. Soak it, stir it and soak it again to ensure it is extinguished.
The Fire Advisory will remain in effect until conditions improve.
