The wildfire danger in the Peace River Forest Area is now HIGH. Current and forecasted weather have reduced the wildfire danger to high, continue to monitor the website as conditions can change rapidly.
FIRE ADVISORY LIFTED
The fire advisory for the Peace River Forest Area is now lifted. Although the advisory is lifted, remember to continue to use caution if you are burning. Fire permits are required during wildfire season and always check your permit conditions. If you have any questions please call the Peace River Fire Centre for more information 780-624-6190.
WILDFIRE UPDATE
Since March 1, there have been 21 wildfires in the Peace River Forest Area burning a total of 8.47 hectares. Five of these wildfires has been turned over to the responsible party and 16 have been extinguished.
PROVINCIAL WILDFIRE UPDATE
There are currently 18 wildfires in the Forest Protection Area (FPA) of Alberta. 10 of these wildfires are under control and eight have been turned over to the responsible party.
Since March 1st, there have been 386 wildfires in the FPA, burning a total of 1,045 ha.

FIRE PERMIT
During wildfire season, you are required to have a fire permit if you plan on doing any burning in the Forest Protection Area, other than a campfire.
We urge everyone to use caution when working and recreating outdoors. Never leave your campfire unattended. Before leaving, be sure to soak your campfire, stir it and soak it again.
