The wildfire danger in the Peace River Forest Area is MODERATE.
Don't forget to get a permit if you need to do any burning (other than a campfire). If you currently have a valid permit, make sure you are reviewing the conditions to make sure that it is safe to burn. Attention should be paid to current and forecasted weather conditions. Be sure to check the website regularly for any updates.
WILDFIRE UPDATE
Since March 1, there have been 16 wildfires in the Peace River Forest Area burning a total of 7.51 hectares. Two of these wildfires have been turned over to the responsible party and 14 have been extinguished.
PROVINCIAL WILDFIRE UPDATE
There are currently 10 wildfires in the Forest Protection Area (FPA) of Alberta. Six of these wildfires are under control and four have been turned over to the responsible party.
Since March 1st, there have been 297 wildfires in the FPA, burning a total of 916.27 ha.

FIRE PERMIT
During wildfire season, you are required to have a fire permit if you plan on doing any burning in the Forest Protection Area, other than a campfire.
We urge everyone to use caution when working and recreating outdoors. Never leave your campfire unattended. Before leaving, be sure to soak your campfire, stir it and soak it again.
