The fire hazard for the Peace River region is now HIGH. Strong winds are expected with a cold front currently moving through the area which will create conditions that could allow a wildfire to travel quickly should one start. There is also a continued chance of lightning throughout the area that can start a wildfire.

Firefighters, heavy equipment, aircraft and support resources have all been strategically placed throughout the Peace River Forest Area in preparation for any new wildfire starts.
