Wildfire hazard climbs to VERY HIGH in the Peace area

As temperatures continue to climb with winds 25k/hr gusting to 50 km/hr the wildfire hazard is now considered very high. Strong gusty winds can cause extreme fire behavior and make fires grow rapidly. Residents and visitors to the Peace River Wildfire Management Area are urged to be cautious with any burning at this time. No significant rain is in the forecast - expect the hazard to continue to increase throughout the week.

Fire fighting crews, air tankers, helicopters and heavy equipment have been strategically placed throughout the Peace River Wildfire Management Area ready to be quickly dispatched to any wildfire starts.
