Lac La Biche Area Update

Wildfire Danger LOW - Lac La Biche Forest Area - July 18, 2018

The wildfire danger will be LOW tomorrow for the Lac La Biche Forest Area. 

Temperatures in the Lac La Biche Forest Area will be around 23 degrees. There will be light winds out the northwest at 15km/h. There will be a 90% chance of rain with the potential for more lightning in the afternoon.


There were two new wildfire starts today. Both wildfires are being held at 0.01 hectares and are expected to be extinguished before tomorrow.

Currently there are six wildfires in the Lac La Biche Forest Area. The two mentioned above as well as four that are under control and not expected to grow. So far this season there have been 182 wildfires in the area burning a total of 16,281.98 hectares.

Update - Rock Island Complex (LWF-099, LWF-119)

Progress continues on the Rock Island Complex as crews are mopping up areas to confirm there are no hot spots still burning. Both wildfires are listed as Under Control and are not expected to grow.


Provincial Update:

  • Since March 1, 2018, Alberta has recorded 935 wildfires in the Forest Protection Area burning a total of 45,906.19 hectares.
