NOTE: Due to a server issue, the status map on the Alberta Wildfire App is not updating. Please use the wildfire status map on the Alberta Wildfire webpage for current locations. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and are working to resolve the issue.

The wildfire danger is VERY HIGH in the Lac La Biche Forest Area.

We are expecting very warm temperatures tomorrow and lower relative humidity levels, with light winds out of the south west.  A cold front is expected to cross the area in mid-afternoon.  This means strong and gusty winds ahead of the cold front.  Any wildfires that start tomorrow will grow quickly, given the very dry state of grass and vegetation, plus afternoon wildfires will be wind driven.

Lac La Biche Forest Area Update:

  • There were no new wildfires today.
  • Since March 1, 2018, there have been 189 wildfires that have burnt a total of 16,336.44 hectares.

If you are out enjoying the forested areas, please remember to fully extinguish your campfire by soaking it, stirring it, then soaking it again. The ashes should be cool to the touch when the fire is completely out.

If you are planning to use an off-highway vehicle, stop often and remove debris from your machine. Grass and muskeg can get caught, heat up and start a wildfire.

Farmers - watch your haying equipment and bearings.
