The wildfire danger is MODERATE in the Lac La Biche Forest Area.
Wildfire season officially ends on October 31. After this date you do not need a permit for burning, however, we would appreciate a call to the Fire Center to let us know if you are planning to do any substantial burning where smoke could be reported to us or to 310-FIRE. This will help us to determine if there is an after-season wildfire or if it is someone doing controlled burning.
Even though it might not be wildfire season, there is still a chance of wildfires.
Hunters - please take the time to put your campfires out before you leave them. Winds can stir up ashes and bring a campfire back to life. Please remember: Soak it, stir the ashes, soak it again!
Farmers, acreage owners and homeowners - fires that are not completely extinguished in the fall can smoulder and burn under the snow cover, creating a big mess in the spring that can be costly and troublesome to put out. Take the time this fall to make sure your fires, brush piles, burn pits, etc. are completely extinguished.
Lac La Biche Forest Area Update:
- So far this season we've had 198 wildfires that have burnt a total of 16,336.43 hectares.
