The wildfire danger is LOW in the Lac La Biche Forest Area.
The weather is continuing cool and breezy, and the forecast includes some rain. We expect the wildfire danger to fluctuate between LOW and MODERATE depending on the rain.
At this time of year the grass starts to dry out, increasing the wildfire danger. Ditches, paths, pipeline clearances and other grassy areas dry out in the fall, leaving us with patches of flammable vegetation. On fall days where the sun is shining and the wind is brisk, wildfires can start and spread quickly.
Hunters, berry pickers and late season campers - please take the time to put your campfires out before you leave them. Winds can stir up ashes and bring a campfire back to life. Please remember: Soak it, stir the ashes, soak it again!
