The wildfire hazard remains VERY HIGH in the Lac La Biche forest area.  We anticipate the hazard remaining at this level until the cold front crosses the area in a day or so.

We have six crews and five helicopters on hand to action any new wildfires.

As the leaves change color and drop, and as the grass begins to dry out, we will see an increased chance of wildfires in grassy areas, along roadways, in ditches, along pipeline clearances and cutlines. Be careful if you are quadding in these areas.  If you're out hunting or scounting and you have a campfire, please make sure it's completely extinguished before you leave it.  Stomp on it, put dirt on it, but the best thing is to carry water with you and soak your fire before you leave. Abandoned campfires can burn and smoulder for a long time before they're discovered, and by that time they can become quite big and be difficult to extinguish.

Thanks for doing your part to prevent wildfire.
