The wildfire hazard is VERY HIGH for the Lac La Biche Forest area. Little precipitation and breezy days are helping keep the wildfire hazard elevated.

We have two crews and one helicopter on hand to action any new wildfires.

Thanks for your help this weekend in preventing wildfire.  Even though we are heading toward Fall, it's important to take the time to make sure your campfires are out before you leave them. It might not be hot and dry like it was in the summer, but dry grass in the autumn presents a real wildfire threat.

Hunters, if you stop for lunch and have a campfire, please make sure it's extinguished before you leave it.  Remember to stop frequently to check your quads for dry grass and muskeg that can build up on machine hotspots.  Clear your machines of this debris that can heat up, fall to the ground, and start a wildfire.

Thanks for doing your part to prevent wildfire.
