The wildfire hazard is VERY HIGH for the Lac La Biche Forest Area for Saturday and Sunday.

The rain we expected from yesterday's forecast did not materialize.  Coupled with this, we have stronger winds for tomorrow.  Instead of a LOW/MODERATE wildfire hazard, we are now expecting VERY HIGH wildfire hazard for the weekend.  We expect a downturn on Monday.

The forecast for the weekend is for temperatures in the high 20s, low humidity and increased winds at 20 km/hr.

We have five crews and four helicopters on hand to fight any new wildfires tomorrow.

Please do your part to prevent wildfires this weekend.  Make sure your campfires are out before you leave them. If you see smoke or fire in the forest, please call 310-FIRE or 310-3473.

Thanks for your help in protecting Alberta's forests.

Your next update will be on Thursday, August 17 unless conditions change in the meantime.
