Lac La Biche Area Update

Wildfire Hazard Sits at MODERATE

Posted on Tue, Oct 06, 2015

The wildfire hazard for the area is MODERATE.  We expect the hazard to remain at moderate to low through to the end of fire season (October 31).

Fluctuating temperatures, winds and frost mean some areas are dry and flammable and others are damp and cool.  To be on the safe side, continue to be diligent when working or playing in the forest.  If you are hunting and have a campfire, make sure it's out before you leave it. Abandoned camp fires can be a problem at this time of year as fires tend to burrow into the ground.  They can burn under the snow and become a big problem in the Spring.

We had one new fire this week, indicating that ground conditions are still dry enough to support wildfire.

We have one crew working through the winter, as well as our Wildfire Rangers and other staff. If you see smoke or fire in the forest, remember to call 310-FIRE.  We need your help now that we have fewer staff stationed through the forest.

Wildfire season does not end until October 31.  You need a permit for any burning until October 31.

Thanks for doing your part to prevent wildfire.
