The wildfire hazard is VERY HIGH again for Tuesday.

The forecast is for a high of 25 degrees C with humidty to match at 25%, no precipitation, and winds SW20 gusting to 40 km/hr. Any fires that start will travel quickly in cured grass. There is some relief in sight, with rain in the forecast for Wednesday.

We didn't have any new wildfires today! There are three active wildfires from the weekend - two are under control and one has been turned over to the landowner to extinguish.  So far this season we've had 44 wildfires. Thanks for doing your part to put your campfires out and for being mindful of hot spots on quads.  Those are the top two causes of wildfires on the long weekend.

A reminder that you need a permit to do any burning, other than a campfire.  With all the crews we have across the area, it's very likely your smoke will be reported.  We check reported locations against the permits to see if we're expecting smoke, and if we're not, we dispatch resources immediately.  If you're burning without a permit you can expect our crews to drive up or land in a helicopter to put out a wildfire.  Don't let this happen to you!  Permits are free and a patrolman will come to your location to inspect your burn site and issue the permit.

We have 17 crews, 11 helicopters, airtankers, heavy equipment and water trucks on hand across the area to action wildfires tomorrow.

Thanks for doing your part to prevent wildfire.
