Lac La Biche Area Update

Wildfire Hazard MODERATE: Two Fires Downgrade to Under Control

Posted on Mon, Jul 27, 2015

gfx-hsb-wildfiredangerupdate-moderateThe wildfire hazard for the Lac La Biche Area is MODERATE.

Two wildfires saw status change today from Being Held to Under Control.  Thanks to all our hard working firefighters for their perseverance!

There are currently 10 active fires in the area and they are all under control now, except for one which is being held!  LWF 175 is Being Held at 15,376 hectares.  This fire is northeast of Cowpar Lake.  Crews are working on this fire from the outside in, extinguishing fire and ground fire as they go.  We have infrared scans planned for several of the under control fires.  These scans will identify any remaining hotspots or ground fire for our crews to target.

The forecast for tomorrow is for a high of 24 degrees, humidity of 35%, and winds at W20.  The chance for lightning is lower for tomorrow.  The forecast for the rest of the week is for continued warm and dry conditions. We expect the hazard to rise as the weekend approaches.

Thanks for doing your part to prevent wildfire.

Keep your campfires small and under control.  Clean your quads.  And remember to get a permit for any burning other than a campfire.

We appreciate your help in protecting our forests.
