The wildfire hazard is LOW for the Lac La Biche forest area.  Be mindful in areas of dry grass.

Wildfire season ends on October 31.  You need a permit for any burning other than a campfire, until October 31.

Abandoned campfires are an issue at this time of year.  If you're hunting or recreating in the forest, please make sure your campfire is extinguished before you leave.  Do not assume that the snow or rain is going to put the fire out for you.  Chances are it will smoulder and burn into the duff, even if it's covered by snow.  By spring this fire could be a big problem.

This is a great time of year to do some jobs around the house, yard or shop to put you in a better position to survive spring wildfires!  Planning ahead now can really help out in the spring.  Cut or trim grass around houses and outbuildings, disc around the yard before you put your tillage equipment away for the winter, ensure your woodpile is not right next to the back door!

Thanks for doing your part to prevent wildfire.
