The wildfire hazard is LOW for the Lac La Biche forest area, however we are expecting strong winds with gusts to 50 km-60 km/hr.  Exercise caution if you are working or recreating in areas of cured grass or other flashy fuel types.  Keep an eye on any permitted burns you may have in progress during the winds tomorrow. Rain is expected behind this weather front.

Although the weather is changing, just a reminder that you need a permit for any burning, other than a campfire, until October 31 which is the last day of wildfire season.

Abandoned campfires are an issue at this time of year.  If you're hunting or recreating in the forest, please make sure your campfire is extinguished before you leave.  Do not assume that the snow or rain is going to put the fire out for you.  Chances are it will smoulder and burn into the duff, even if it's covered by snow.  By spring this fire could be a big problem.

Thanks for doing your part to prevent wildfire.
