Lac La Biche Area Update

Wildfire Hazard LOW for the Long Weekend

Posted on Fri, Sep 04, 2015

Cool, damp weather has dropped the wildfire hazard to LOW for the long weekend.

Temperatures through the weekend are expected to remain in the mid-teens, with substantial humidity, chance of scattered showers and light winds.

We have had no new fires this week.  We have five crews, one helicopter and the air tankers on hand to suppress any new wildfires.

If you are camping this weekend, I hope you are in a trailer and not a tent!  And I hope you take the time to make sure your campfires are out before you leave them.  Despite the cool temperatures and rain showers, Mother Nature is not responsible to put your campfire out - you are!  Soak it, stir the ashes, and soak it again to make sure it's out. Please take all your garbage out with you and leave the forest better than you found it.

Thanks for doing your part to look after the forest this long weekend.
