We didn't receive the forecasted precipitation and the wildfire hazard for the Lac La Biche area has returned to HIGH.  Dry and windy conditions mean surface fuels are succeptible to wildfire and any fires that start will travel quickly in dry grass.

The forecast for today is for a high of 9 with humidity of 60%, chance or rain or snow and strong winds at NE45G70.  If we receive the precipitation, the hazard will drop but in the meantime, conditions are very dry. Strong and gusty winds in excess of 45 km/hr mean NO BURNING today, even if you have a permit. Never burn when winds are stronger than 15 km/hr.

We are issuing permits for burning with the exception of non-essential heavy burning, which is still restricted at this time.  Always follow the conditions on the back of your permit.

We have one fire in the Janvier area, and it is under control.  So far this season we have had 90 wildfires.

We have 13 crews, two helicopters and several water trucks across the area.

We appreciate your help in preventing wildfires.
